Minutes of Stewardship Meeting - January 8, 2007
Those present were Jerry Walterscheid, John Bartush, Kathy Bauer, Kathy Vogel, Imelda Rohmer, Lisa Schilling, Barbara Rohmer, Chuck Bartush, and Coy Eddleman.
Chuck Bartush called the meeting to order and Lisa Schilling did the opening prayer.
Minutes were approved. Barbara said that she confirmed with Ernie Martin that we have the main hall for the Festival of Ministries. Jerry Walterscheid said that he talked to Dave Vogel about passing the baskets during offertory but they were told not to make any change until July. We reminded ourselves that all parish committees have been asked not to make any changes until Father Ken has been here a while.
Lisa Schilling showed us a rough copy of the revised Ministry Directory to be given out in January. She said that there was one extra page so we decided to put Father Ken's letter to the parishioners in the inside of the front cover followed by a page with the parish mission statement and a page for table of contents. We decided that since there will be a lot of pro-life activities at the weekend Masses on January 20 - 21, we will give out the ministry directories on January 27 and 28. We will have the greeters handing them to people as they exit church. We would also like to do a 90 second presentation on the importance of each person or family getting a ministry booklet even if they can't give or volunteer. Those people should get the booklet as a resource for who to contact in case he or she needs help. The parishioners should be encouraged to put this ministry directory next to their phone book at home. Chuck will do a rough draft of the presentation and email it to committee members for input. Barbara will check with Theresa Mae Walterscheid about us doing the presentations. Chuck volunteered to do it at the 5 pm Mass, Kathy Bauer the 8 am and John Bartush the 10:30 am Mass. Chuck Bartush asked about when the commitment forms should go out to parishioners. At first we thought it should be in January, but Kathy Vogel pointed out that the Festival of Ministries is February 24 and 25 and we should give them out shortly before then. We will collate the sheets and put them in envelopes addressed to each family. Greeters along with some of our committee members will encourage people to pick up their commitment forms. Barbara Rohmer went
to the office to get some commitment forms from last year. As a group we went through and did revisions on them. Kathy Vogel will get the revised copy for the ministry directory and the commitment forms to the Muenster Enterprise tomorrow so they can begin working on them. Kathy asked whether we should do as many as last time. Ernie Martin said to do 200 less because he took that many and gave them out at the last men's ACTS retreat. We decided to do the same number as the last time since it doesn't make that much difference in price. Kathy also said that the directory will be done on the same type paper as before since it lasts a long time. This time the booklet will be red and black instead of green, with the pictures in red and the information in black.
Kathy Vogel told the group that she feels led to do the Lay Witness talks on the weekend of February 17 - 18. She would like to share how she began by teaching a religious ed class after being asked to do so and how she has gotten more involved and what a joy that has been for her.
Kathy Vogel reported that she has contacted all the various ministries for the Festival of Ministries. Since the meeting was going longer than expected, we agreed to do more planning for the Festival of Ministries at the next meeting on Monday, February 12.
We will also meet on Monday, January 29, at 7 pm in either the SNAP room or the conference room of the Business Office to collate all the commitment forms, put in envelopes and put address labels on them. Barbara will check on which room is available.
Jerry Walterscheid led the group in a closing prayer.
