Minutes of Stewardship Meeting - May 8, 2006

 

Chuck Bartush presided. He welcomed Jerry Walterscheid to our meeting.  He is interested in joining the stewardship committee.

 

Barbara Rohmer opened the meeting with the gospel reading and sharing.

 

We sent out 174 thank you letters to those who turned in commitment forms.  We have had about 20 more turned in since.  We need to send them thank you letters.  We also decided to send thank you letters to all those who signed up at the Festival of Ministries.  Kathy Vogel said about 50 or 60 people signed up then.

 

Chuck had Stacie Forshee compile a list of amounts given by approximately 170 families (no names attached) in '05 compared to the amount that those same families pledged to give in  '06.   The total given last year was $271,956.68.  That amount pledged for the coming year was $334,240.30.  The difference was encouraging.  Chuck will pass this information on to Dennis Hess and the Finance Council. 

 

We decided to meet next Monday, May 15, at 7 pm in Chuck’s office to work on thank you letters to those who have turned in commitment forms since April 17 and those who signed up at the Festival of Ministries.  We will also send letters to those who have not turned in commitment forms or signed up at the Festival of Ministries. We will say that even though they may be involved in various ministries, we would still like to have a commitment form from them.   Barbara will email a copy of the letter we sent last year  to nonresponders and we will revise it by email.  Kathy Bauer volunteered to bring pizza.  Chuck said he will bring drinks.

 

We discussed a calendar for next year.  Neil Hesse said that Boy Scout meetings are every other Monday and it is difficult for him to choose between them and  stewardship.  We asked him to email Barbara the dates of his meetings and we will work around those.  Barbara agreed to work on a calendar for Stewardship next year and will email it to everyone for their approval.  She will also present it to the Council of Ministries on Thursday, May 18th.  Chuck suggested that we might think about doing the Festival of Ministries in December so that the budget could be worked on sooner.  Kathy Vogel pointed out that if we have it then parishioners might think we are having another one too soon.  She suggested that it be held sometime in February - perhaps after Ash Wednesday.

 

We then discussed recruiting new members for the stewardship committee.  We talked about coming up with a list of people to invite, but we were running out of time.

 

So we decided that each of us would come up with the names of three people we thought would be good to invite to be on the stewardship committee and we would compile the list on next Monday at our work meeting.

 

Those present for the meeting were Chuck Bartush, John Bartush, Kathy Vogel, Kathy Bauer, Neil Hesse,

Barbara Rohmer, and Jerry Walterscheid.  Father John and Juanita Bright came for a short.while.

 

 

Mark your calendars!  Pizza, drinks, and work meeting next Monday, May 15, at 7 pm at Chuck Bartush’s office (not the business office) to work on thank you letters and letters to nonresponders.  And don't forget to bring the names of three people we could possible recruit for the stewardship committee.
