Unity and Fellowship Committee Meeting

Minutes - June 12, 2007

 

 

The meeting began with the “Lord’s Prayer”.

 

Present were:  Wanda Flusche, Patti Fuhrmann, Sug Bindel, Stella Hess, Juanita Bright, Betty Rose Walterscheid, Don and Betty Flusche and four new members, Tudor Klement, Carol Fuhrmann, Marcy Wilde and Betty Kralicke.  Welcome new members and we are so delighted to have you as a member of our parish committee!

 

The committee made final plans for serving refreshments after the 8am and 7pm masses on the Feast of the Sacred Heart, which is on Friday, June 15.

 

Betty Flusche gave a report to the committee on the Council of Ministries meeting held on May 17, during which it was decided to involve other ministries with duties for the annual “Family Day in the Park”.  Those present at the Council of Ministries meeting recommended we designate different jobs to these ministries to get more people involved from our parish.

 

A discussion was held on the idea of having a covered dish meal after the completion of the renovation of the Community Center Building.  Everyone in attendance thought it was a very good idea.   We would like to invite Bishop Vann to be present for this occasion.

 

We discussed the possibility of having a breakfast for our parish members, in the Community Center cafeteria, every other month between the Sunday morning masses, possibly inviting other ministries for their assistance.  The committee decided not to carry this through because it would be quite a big job to do every other month.

 

More planning was done for “Family Day in the Park” to be held on September 23, starting after the 10:30 mass.  Fr. Ken thought it was a great idea to have bingo, using donated gifts for prizes.  It was suggested we ask the church choir members, maybe Philip Flusche, to be in charge of karaoke this year.  The idea of having a tug-of-war was left undecided.  After the “Family Day in the Park” last year, Martha Sicking suggested her ministry would like to provide balloons for the kids.  A member suggested we have the youth commission be in charge of patrolling the bounce house and the obstacle course and slide combo.  Betty Kralicke suggested her daughter, Diane Walterscheid, could make ribbons for the game winners.  She also suggested having two registry tables instead of just the one we had last year.  We discussed having a clean up crew this year, after the fun is over.

 

Under new business, Juanita Bright volunteered to be our publicity chairman.  Thank you, Juanita!  Betty Flusche is going to look into the possibility of changing our meeting date to the second Wednesday of each month to accommodate more members.

 

The meeting closed with a prayer.

 

Next meeting… Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at 7:30 pm…under the Sacred Heart pavilion.

 

Please Note:   Starting…Wednesday, August 1, 2007 our monthly meetings will be held on  the  FIRST   Wednesday of each month at 7:15 pm in the Community Center Meeting Room.
