Unity and Fellowship Committee Meeting
Minutes – August 1, 2007
The meeting began by all present reciting a special “Prayer for Unity”.
Those present were: Wanda Flusche, Sug Bindel, Stella Hess, Pat Fuhrmann, Betty Rose Walterscheid, Betty Kralicke, Marcy Wilde, Juanita Bright, Don and Betty Flusche.
Plans were made for the covered dish social, which will be held in the Community Center on Saturday, August 18, after the 5 o’clock mass. It was decided set-up time would be at 9 am the morning of the 18th. A phone call committee will be making phone calls to members of our committee, asking for their help with set-up and with serving the meal.
The committee then moved on to finalize initial plans for “ Family Day in the Park” which will be held on September 23, 2007.
We will ask Fr. Ken and the pastor of the First Baptist Church to lead the meal prayers and/or say a few words before the meal. The members of the First Baptist Church have been invited to participate in any event or sponsor any other event of their choosing.
The youngsters will have fun with a bounce house, an obstacle course and slide combo bouncer and a basketball throw bouncer. The committee decided to ask the Shy group to be in charge of patrolling the bouncers, with 2 shifts each, with 4 at the obstacle course each shift and 2 at each of the other two bouncers each shift.
Fred and Elaine Koesler will be serving their famous… Kettle Korn.
Bert Hesse and our local Boy Scout Troop will be serving cotton candy.
Pat Fuhrmann is putting together a volleyball tournament.
Tim Schneider is planning the game of washer’s tournament.
The Phillip Flusche Family is looking forward to working with the karaoke machine and getting local talent to join in the fun of singing along.
Respect Life Ministry is providing helium balloons for the kids.
We are currently working on having face painting for the youngsters and Stella offered to contact Dwayne Pagel about providing train rides for the kids. The Sacred Heart cheerleaders will be contacted to see if they will again provide snow cones and something new this year will be a “modified” TUG –OF-WAR. Tim Schneider and Deb Klement will contact the coaches from SHS and MISD to see if they will be in charge of this event. This should be something fun for the kids around ages 13 thru 18.
Betty Rose is asking the KC’s for the use of their tables. Juanita then discussed advertising posters for this event.
The committee decided to have our future meetings, date and time, posted in the bulletin.
The meeting ended with the prayer of the Blessed Virgin, “The Hail Mary”.
