Unity and Fellowship Committee Meeting
Minutes – September 5, 2007
Betty Flusche opened the meeting at 7:15 pm. Members present recited a special “Prayer for Unity.”
Those present for the meeting were: Betty Kralicke, Sug Bindel, Tudor Klement, Patti Fuhrmann, Stella Hess, Betty Rose Walterscheid, Juanita Bright, Wanda Flusche, Deb Klement, Don and Betty Flusche.
Betty Flusche thanked all who helped in any way with the covered dish social held on August 18 in the newly re-decorated main hall of the Sacred Heart Parish Community Center. The social was a wonderful success. We estimated about 230 people in attendance to help join in the celebration to re-dedicate the building.
Plans were made for serving light refreshments on Sunday, September 9 between the masses, when the Joint Committee gives their annual State of the Parish presentation in the Community Center. We will have donuts available and members were asked to bring sweet breads, rolls, or cookies to serve along with coffee, juice and water.
Details were finalized for our second annual community wide “Family Day in the Park” on Sunday, September 23. It was reported, Nicole Bayer and the Sacred Heart Youth will be in charge of patrolling the bounce houses. The Phillip Flusche Family will be in charge of the karaoke. The Respect Life Ministry is providing balloons for the kids and SHY will be helping them. The Sacred Heart dance team will perform a routine, as they did last year. The MISD Cheerleaders will provide snow cones and there will be hot dogs provided by Roger Taylor and Betty Rose and Kettle Korn provided by Fred and Elaine Koesler. The Boy Scouts cotton candy machine is presently being repaired, and we are praying it will be fixed in time for the big day. Stella Hess reported that Herbie Schmidlkofer will provide train rides for the kiddos for three hours at $75.00. Tom Gressett will be transporting people needing help with getting around. The Muenster Baptist Church will be putting on a washers tournament and we are still working on putting together a modified Tug-of-war. Patti presented a flyer she made, and is working hard in getting teams together for a volleyball tournament at the court in the park. Betty Kralicke is ready with her crew to hand out name tags. The KC’s have agreed to letting us use their tables and Tudor asked them to deliver the tables to the park and return them to the KC Hall. Wanda will see that the Jaycees deliver to the park and return the Sacred Heart Parish tables from under the pavilion. Deb will see to getting a clean-up crew together. Juanita is working on advertising “Family Day in the Park” and she, Sug and Wanda are working on the advertising signs to be placed around town. Diane Walterscheid has been asked to paint some of the bigger signs that are going to be located around town. Juanita will be contacting Fr. Ken and the Muenster Baptist Church minister to say some words before meal. The St. Ann’s Society and Catholic Daughters will be serving desserts and Don and Betty Flusche are in charge of drinks.
Juanita reminded the members of the Arms Around the County meeting on Thursday, Sept. 6 and she also spoke on World Community Day coming up soon, which is an opportunity for Church Women to reach out in peace and acceptance to women of different faiths.
The meeting closed with a prayer.
