Minutes

April 10, 2007

 

 

 

Present were:  Juanita Bright, Betty Rose Walterscheid, Sug Bindel, Betty Flusche and three new members… Tim Schneider, Rosemary Dankesreiter and Dana Walterscheid.  We were delighted to welcome them and to include them as part of our committee!

 

The meeting began with the “Our Father” prayer.

 

Discussion was on the Celebration of the Feast of the Sacred Heart, which is on Friday, June 15 and how best to honor the Sacred Heart of Jesus.  We discussed celebrating on the following day of the feast in order to have more people attend.  We gathered the ideas of having a covered dish meal after the Saturday 5 pm mass, with singing, praying or reciting the Litany of the Sacred Heart as we process to the Community Center behind the displayed banner of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.  Other ideas were to have the youth choir sing and play their instruments during the meal for entertainment.  It was decided that Betty would talk with Fr. Ken to get his thoughts of how best to celebrate and whether he would approve of celebrating on Saturday instead of Friday.

 

Under long range planning, we discussed the “Family Day in the Park” and how to improve this year.  Ideas were brought up of having the game of bingo (if permitted), a Texas Hold’em tournament, the games of washers, basketball, tennis, volleyball and baseball.  It was decided we would ask the youth kids what kind of entertainment they want.

 

Under new business, Juanita talked about and handed out information on Church Women United of Cooke County.  She would like for our committee to be a part of this fellowship to encourage church women to come together in a visible fellowship to witness to their faith in Jesus Christ as Devine Lord and Savior, and enable by His Spirit, to go out together into every neighborhood and nation as instruments of His reconciling love.  She invited our committee to be a part of the May Friendship Day on Friday, May 4 at 12 noon at the First Presbyterian Church, 401 S Denton, in Gainesville.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 and was closed after the “Hail Mary” prayer.
