Unity and Fellowship
Regular Meeting
August 8, 2006
The meeting opened promptly with a prayer led by Betty Flusche.
The potluck dinner on July 29th was discussed. There was a good turnout considering the timing with family vacations. Ways to increase attendance were presented. The books, puzzles, and colors were a big hit with the children (and parents!). All thought that a children’s area should be repeated at future potlucks. Also, it was nice to have the background music playing. The possibility of door prizes was discussed. It is noted that extra help is needed during serving time and clean up. Possibly the committee should prepare to have additional meats available, because what we had was gone pronto.
For the Family Day in the Park, Juanita Bright graciously took charge of publicity matters and Kim Felderhoff offered to help in any way. They will begin immediately with bulletin announcements concerning the Family Day in the Park.
Second Sunday is August 13th. Plans were made to serve refreshments. It was decided upon coffee, OJ, and water for drinks. Betty Rose Walterscheid offered to bake for the event. Everyone divided up the jobs and what to bring.
The welcome packet idea is a go! Everyone will gather 25 information pamphlets from around town to put together at the next meeting.
Toni Deweber reported that Art Oppermann, who is in charge of the mass greeters, is willing to try to use the cards for greeters to hand out for new member information. The size, what should be included on them, and where they will be printed was discussed. A 3x5 card with the following information was decided:
Name
Address (physical and mailing)
Phone/Email
# of family members
Interests
Would you like to become involved as a member of a committee?
It was mentioned there will need to be a slotted box to collect the cards and someone will need to check it regularly.
Betty Rose Walterscheid reported on the Unity and Fellowship banner progress. Different ideas were presented as to how to proceed with artwork. She will continue working on the project with a completion goal of September 24th.
Betty Flusche closed the meeting with a prayer.
Meeting adjourned at 8:45pm.
