Unity and Fellowship
Regular meeting
Betty Flusche led opening prayer at 7:45 pm.
Betty Flusche reported on the success of the rosary and ice cream social held June 23. A big THANKS to all who made ice cream and helped. Everyone agreed the celebration needs to be repeated, hopefully with even more people in attendance.
Toni Deweber spoke with Angela Hennigan, chairperson (Spiritual Growth and Education) and she is pleased to have the Unity and Fellowship committee help with Second Sunday. They plan their first “ Second Sunday” activities on August 13th. We can assist with refreshments, flyers and clean up. We will have more discussion on this at our August 8th meeting.
Welcome packets were again discussed, but was tabled for a later date. However, a card for the greeters to fill out with new members’ information will be pursued. Toni Deweber will get this implemented as soon as possible.
The potluck supper on July 29th is quickly approaching! We need to post signs around town and Stella Hess offered to help with this. Betty Flusche will see that it is on channel 2 and in the bulletin. Toni Deweber will contact Dana Dittlinger to see if SHY can help by putting flyers on cars during masses. Announcements will be made during masses on July 22nd, 23rd, and 29th. Set up will hopefully begin Friday afternoon.
The Unity and Fellowship banner turned out to be more expensive than originally anticipated. Betty Rose Walterscheid presented an idea of making one ourselves. All felt this sounded good, and agreed to help.
Further plans were made regarding the “ Family Day in the Park”. Leslie Eddleman will be in charge of the children’s area. Inviting some community organizations to help with set up, drinks, serving, etc was decided upon. What duties will be given to different groups was discussed. The types of entertainment and a timeline will be decided at a later meeting.
How to help membership and attendance of Unity and Fellowship was brought up. A few non-active members and some new people will be contacted. Everyone is encouraged to stir interest and to bring people to the upcoming meetings and events.
Betty Rose Walterscheid closed the meeting with a prayer.
Meeting adjourned at 9:00 pm.
NEXT MEETING: AUGUST 8TH AT 7:30 PM.
