Meeting of the Unity and Fellowship Committee
Minutes - November 14, 2006
Betty Flusche opened the meeting with all attending reciting the “Prayer for the Church in Transition”.
Those present were: Betty Rose Walterscheid, Werner Becker, Don and Betty Flusche.
A change in scheduling of next year’s “Family Day in the Park” was announced. It will take place on September 23, 2007, and not the third Sunday in September as was originally planned, due to a conflict in scheduling the use of the Community Center in case of bad weather that day.
Betty Flusche reported on her visit with Angela Hennigan about the Unity and Fellowship committee providing and serving refreshments for Spiritual Growth and Education’s “Second Sunday.” It was decided we would be happy to oblige only when asked, but not every month.
It was decided we would not pursue the idea of placing cards in the pews for new members to the parish to fill out.
Those present assembled the “Welcome Packets”. Betty Flusche will distribute them to the Parish office, City Hall and the Chamber of Commerce.
We agreed to help in some manner with our annual parish Thanksgiving picnic next Sunday.
Discussion was held on how and when to welcome our new pastor, Fr. Ken Robinson. Nothing definite was decided, but will be planned at a later date.
Under new business, we have been asked if the Unity and Fellowship Committee would be willing to help with setting up and serving the food, on the Sunday at noon, after the Acts Retreats. All present agreed that we would be happy to take on this project if needed.
Betty Rose Walterscheid led the closing prayer.
We decided to not have a regularly scheduled meeting in December. Our next meeting is scheduled for January 6, 2007 in the Community Center Meeting Room at 7 pm. Please attend and bring a guest…we need more members!!!
