Unity and Fellowship Minutes

September 12, 2006

Betty Flusche opened the meeting with all reciting the Prayer for the Church in Transition.

Those present were: Kim Felderhoff, Stella Hess, Wanda Flusche, Betty Rose Walterscheid, Juanita Bright, Don Flusche and Betty Flusche

Betty Flusche thanked all who helped provide and serve refreshments or helped in anyway with the Town Hall Meeting and with Father John’s appreciation and farewell gatherings.

It was announced that Jeanne Greathouse is a new member of our Unity and Fellowship committee and we are so proud to have her join us.  Although she was not able to be at our meeting, she will be helping us with  “ Family Day in the Park” on Sept. 24.

Juanita Bright presented a program on Arms Around Cooke County and suggested as individuals, we should support and encourage others to get involved.  They pray for our law enforcement personnel and their endeavor to control illegal drug use in Cooke County, which seems to be on the rise.

We tabled putting together the packets for new members of our community until a later date because not all items have been brought in.

Betty Rose Walterscheid reported to the committee about the work in progress on the Unity and Fellowship banner.  Mary Dangelmayr will draw joined hands for the banner and Betty Rose Walterscheid will complete the banner before Sept. 24, so it can be displayed at “Family Day in the Park”.

We discussed  “Family Day in the Park”.  Betty Rose Walterscheid volunteered to provide 120 hot dogs. Wanda Flusche will contact Leslie Eddleman and the SH Dance team about the kids entertainment, such as face painting and etc., and she will be talking with the Jaycees about using their tables.  Kim Felderhoff will check into renting a bounce house and an obstacle course with slide for the little ones to enjoy, and will talk with Bert Hesse to see if the Boy Scouts would be willing to make cotton candy, which is always a big hit with the kids.  We will be contacting Fred and Elaine Koesler to see if they would be interested in making their Kettle Korn.  Betty Flusche will contact Dana Dittlinger and the youth group to see what their plans are for entertainment. Juanita Bright will see that brochures are printed and displayed around town and Betty Rose Walterscheid volunteered to be in charge of getting the brochures distributed to the Baptist Church and to SH Church and around town, and she will also provide a guest registry.

Betty Rose Walterscheid, Stella Hess and Juanita Bright will make the “Family Day in the Park” announcements after each mass on Sept. 16 and Sept. 17

Don Flusche reported that Bishop Vann will be visiting our parish in the near future and will be saying mass. We discussed having a covered dish lunch for all the parishioners after the mass, with Bishop being our guest.

We discussed and then tabled the idea of encouraging new members of Sacred Heart parish to fill out a card and placing it in the back of church, so they may be recognized.

It was decided that we provide refreshments for Spiritual Growth and Education for their Second Sunday on Oct. 8.

Betty Flusche asked all to submit their bills from various functions for reimbursement from the finance committee at the next meeting on Oct. 10.

The meeting was closed by praying Our Lord’s Prayer.
