Youth Council Minutes

October 1^st, 2006

 

 

Present for the meeting were:  John Walterscheid, Nicole Bayer, Monica LeBrasseur, Debbie Endres, Ashley Hartman, John Bezner, & Dana Dittlinger.

 

Opened the meeting with praise and music led by Dana & Ashley.

 

Minutes

Minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and approved.

 

Budget

Dana purchased some items for faith and fun nights-No other activity to report.

 

Youth Minister Report

• The Youth led “See you at the pole” on Sept 27^th.
• World Youth Day at 6 flags is October 29^th.  Money and permission slips is due Wednesday October 4^th.
• Service team is working with Martha Sicking of Pro Life group to hold a “Wash for Life” car wash on October 21^st. Funds raised will be donated to ABBA.
• The High School Youth Leadership team has been selected:  They are:  Karina Skotnik, Kristen Miller, Meredith Hennigan, Mike Valliere, Bret Walterscheid, Brad Endres, Lauren Creed, Natalie Endres, Jenni Luke, Shelbye Hess, Kristin Le Brasseur, Natalie Valliere, and Ginger Bartush.

 

Council of Ministries Report-Ashley represented the Youth Council at the Council of Ministries meeting. 

• The Council of Ministries asked that each committee start their meetings by reading the current week’s gospel and focusing on the questions published in the bulletin
• All announcements in church should be approved by the liturgical committee. 
• There will be a Thanksgiving food drive for the food pantry.  Everyone thought this would be a good service project for the youth. 
• Karen Davis has contacts for guest speakers and would be willing to help arrange them.
• The “March for Life” is in Washington DC in January.

 

Old Business

1. Committee Reports

·        Service-Wash for Life

·        Spiritual-Confirmation-Feb 3^rd  Dana is going to ask the liturgical com if the youth mass that month be with the Confirmation mass.  Dana, Margie York, and Michael & Billie Becker are the Confirmation leaders.

·        Social-World Youth Day-Six Flags

           -Planning activities for after youth masses.

 

B.     Youth Facility Update-See plan of action under new business

 

New Business

A.     Parish Picnic-November 19^th.  Got ideas from the event in the park.  Dana got information on the obstacle course and bounce house.

 

B.     Youth Minister Fall Evaluation-Will do next month.

 

C.     Organization of Committees-Since there are new members on the council everyone should discern about the committee they would like to be on.  Committees should be meeting outside of regular youth council meetings to come up with ideas and report to the council.  The  committee’s and their chairs will be finalized at next month’s meeting.

 

D.     Youth Center Plan of Action-Ashley outlined the course of action the Youth Council must take to get this project going.  She requested that everyone do research so that we can formulate a formal proposal to present to the proper parish committees.  (See outline attached)
