Youth Council Minutes

11-05-06

 

Present for the meeting were:  Monica LeBrasseur, Rita Bayer, Laurie Valliere, Nicole Bayer, Ashley Hartman, Debbie Endres, John Walterscheid, John Bezner, and Dana Dittlinger.

 

Opened the meeting with music let by Ashley.  John Bezner read this weeks Gospel and the group discussed the question in the bulletin related to the Gospel.  Laurie provided the opening prayer.

 

Minutes

Minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and approved.

 

Budget

There have been two donations to the Youth Council.  An anonymous donor gave $450 and Catholic Life Insurance donated $500.  Valerie had suggested that the Catholic Life Insurance donation be used for getting more shirts for new members and those who have outgrown theirs.

 

Dana reported that we have used most of the money designated for gas in the budget.  If needed in the future we can move money from another line item.  For the 6 flags trip she did add a few dollars to the price to cover some of the mileage.

 

Youth Minister Report

·        88 kids and 13 adults went to World Youth Day at 6 flags on October 29^th.  Dana said the weather was great, the kids behaved, and they checked in at the appropriate times.

·        Our new Priest, Father Ken should be in Muenster on January 6^th.

·        There was a pizza/movie social after the Youth Mass last night at the K-C Hall.  Father John Robert came and everyone enjoyed visiting with him.

·        The Youth raised $230 for ABBA at the “Wash for Life”. 

·        The Thanksgiving picnic is November 19^th.  The service committee has gotten a bounce house, obstacle course, edible sand art and are working on a craft corner.

·         Over 500 kids attended the Trunk or Treat at the park.  Dana and several SHY & SHY Jr. kids helped.

·        Dana asked some of the teen leaders about participating in the Christmas parade.  They felt like they would like more time to think and come up with a good float-so maybe next year.  Several kids were already participating through other groups.

-Planning hayride and bonfire after Dec youth mass

-Working with liturgical committee to possibly do 5:00 Christmas Eve mass and Confirmation Mass.

-Asked about purchasing CD’s

3.     Social-Will be responsible for hot dogs, drinks and smores at hayride/bonfire.

-Planning events for after 2007 Youth Masses.
