Youth Council Minutes

02/11/07

 

Present for the meeting were:  John Walterscheid,  Rita Bayer, Debbie Endres, Ashley Hartman, Monica LeBrasseur, and Dana Dittlinger.

 

Started the meeting with a prayer and reading of the Gospel.

 

Minutes of the January 7^th meeting were distributed and approved.

 

Budget

The youth ministry budget for the next year needs to be turned in to the business office by the end of February.  After discussion about the budget and needs for this year the committee decided to submit the same budget as last year.

 

Dana mentioned that Youth Ministry had around $5,730 in donations last year.

The committee questioned if these donations were set aside specifically for youth ministry or put into the general fund.  Since mission trips is a goal for the youth council, Dana was going to ask Monica if this money could be set aside for large projects if we did not have specific uses for it right now. 

 

Catholic Life has been donating the money for the shirts for the kids. 

 

Youth Minister Report

Dana handed out a flyer with upcoming youth events in February and March.

She has lots of activities for SHY Jr. the week of spring break.  The bonfire is now being planned for May 19^th.  She will look into having the youth mass that evening.  This will be our end of year bridging and moving on ceremony.

 

Dana also mentioned the Pines camp retreat on May 4^th-6^th.

 

Council of Ministries

Dana reported that the council of ministries will be having festival of ministries Feb 24^th and 25^th after all the masses.  Dana will set up Saturday morning and will just need council members to help man our table.  She will send out a sign up sheet.

 

Old Business

   A Committee Reports

           Service-Shy Jr. participated in Souper Bowl of Caring and raised $282

                         which that decided to donate to Dain Schmidlkofer.

B.     Youth Facility Update

Father Ken stopped by our meeting.  He mentioned that a youth facility has

 been discussed by building and maintenance and finance committees.  He said the goal is get a Master Plan Needs Assessment for the entire parish and then proceed from there. 

 

New Business

A.    Evaluation of confirmation classes.

Since the youth minister is in charge of confirmation now the committee discussed sending a confirmation evaluation to the parents of those who were confirmed to get feedback from them.  Ashley and Dana will contact the diocese for some evaluation forms.  The confirmation candidates filled out an evaluation. 

 

B.     Youth Website

Father Ken is meeting with someone to redo the entire parish website.

The youth ministry website will flow from that.

 

C.    Adding monthly minutes to website

Dana thought Don Rohmer put the minutes on the website.

 Debbie will contact him.

 

Future Meeting Dates

March-There were numerous conflicts in March-Spring Break, basketball playoffs etc., so since the February meeting was a week later then usual the committee decided to cancel March’s meeting.
