Things actually look a little grim. I started drawing a bridge tile today to replace a rather crappy one I had before. While running TLOT to test maps and tiles, I got several lock ups while entering my mock up battles. (A feature I'd just added not too long ago but hadn't had any problems with.) I was rather upset. I copied the directory to my PII 400 and ran it and I got illegal instructions. I went back to my 133 and actually got a core dump at one point. Maybe Pascal isn't year 2k complient [grin]. Seriously though, I suspect I've got some memory allocation problems. I'm also worried that they might be problems I can't resolve. I need to get away from that crappy borland dos compiler.
Anyway, if I can't fix this, it could mean serious trouble for Talibah. I might port Talibah to Win32, C++ and DirectX. Basically all I'd be keeping is artwork and design concepts. As much as that would be like starting from scratch, I guess I could go all the way and add a ton of new features. But then again why not scrap all the artwork and go high resolution. All of the sudden I've started a new game... this is not good..
We'll see what happens. On another note, I've finally updated the Bob page to refect the fact that its available via Softdisk. I'm also on their SPYS program so if you want to purchase something from them, please feel free to do so via my link here.
Anyway, about the screenshot. The one you see here is of a bridge and a waterfall. The characters move up a tad when you step on the bridge, looks pretty cool. If you click the screenshot, you'll pull up a mock of of yet another battle scene. This time with some of the new monsters Brian Crews has been working on.
Tempest is actually working out pretty well. I made my first bit of money on our first complete website. Check it out at Finch and Associates, Inc. I wish we could have spent about 50% more time on it, but we were working within a budget. Overall I'm pretty proud of it.

I keep thinking I'm getting on top of things and then they slip again. I think life is pretty much like that. Since my last update, I have spent time working on the battle engine code. Nothing major to report, but I have been working a little. Additionally, Brian continues to send me battle art. The battle sprites will soon be complete. I need to update the monsters portion of the website soon with the new additions. Also, I think later today I'm going to re-do the Bob website to reflect the fact that its available at Softdisk... I might modify this update with links to those changes later today.
Still haven't actually made any money since October last year, but I've got a fairly good chunk that I should make soon. I've been looking the help wanted section of the paper over, it looks like Cici's pizza needs help. *groan*
Anyway, back to work for me. Before I close, does anyone remeber the update I made where I said I'd have lots of free time on my hands due to the job at gathering and how I'd be able to really work on my game? Yeah, I remember that too. *sob* I bet you all can't wait to play TLOT on your brand new PIII 900's!!!
