Yeap, I slipped a little on the weekly update again.. missed a week actually. But, nothing happened that week. Its getting close to the end of the semester and I've got a compiler, assembler and a loader to write if I want to pass systems programming. I may not have anything else to show for a few weeks. Sorry about that, but if I don't pass this class I'll have even less time for TLOT later when I'm re-taking the class.

Anyway, I've been playing a bit of FF1 lately. I'm up to the part where you get a boat. I noticed that the bushes in FF1 look like the bushes in some of my towns. One thing I've been trying to do is draw tiles atleast a little better than FF1 tiles. Being that I have 256 colors and FF1 had 4 colors, I should be able to do this.. but you'd be surprised how hard it is. Anyway, I slapped together an image that showed a bit of FF1 versuss a bit of TLOT. My characters are pretty small. Everything in my game seems... umm.. blury.. but its just dithered to perfection... yeah, thats it.. dithering.

Anyway, its a busy day. I've got lots of stuff to do this week. In about a month, things should start getting really cool. Tempest may be looking at getting a loan in the near future so we can do some advertising. This might also lead to some office space. That would rock. I'm considering moving my game development to the office but I'm not sure. Then I'll be more likely to go to work and work on it as aposed to thinking about working on it then playing final fantasy 1 instead. Heh...

Later...

Sorry for the Tuesday update. The time change and Easter set me back. I didn't get much sleep this weekend. Lack of sleep moves you into some strange realm of chaos. Oh well.

I added some barrels to the industrial port town tile set. Got some open ones and some closed ones. I thought about putting in a spool of rope, but didn't get that far. The tile set is pretty close to full, I've only got a handful of blank tiles. Anyway, the barrels will be a great place to put hidden items.

If you click on this week's shot you'll get the start of whats suppose to be the Talibah castle tile set, but in my attempt to make a dirt floor, I've gotten a lot closer to a desert castle tile set.. which I'll also need later on so I'll probably keep it. Making castles is very tough. The only other one I've many any progress on is the ice castle. I don't want to just duplicate the tile set on another ground cover.. while I've got to use a whole new set, I'd like to go ahead and make it look a feel different from the others.

Last week I announced that I was thinking about a new server. I was rather surprised when multiple TLOT fans offered me Web space! Thanks everyone =) BUT, I had a place in mind already. I was going to use Tempest server space. While I'm talking about the site, I noticed yesterday that I had a spike in my usage. I'd like to thank Betazine for linking to me from this page. This made me realize that its been a long time since I've contacted any of my beta testers or given them anything to look at. Oops.. Sorry guys, its hard fo rone fellow to keep up!

You know that demo I was talking about possibly releasing this weekend? Well, its not likely to happen for a bit yet.. but it will happen eventually.

More adventures in Linux. I've tried to get my sound card to work. There's a how-to file out there that installed with the OS explaining how to get my AWE to work. Unfortunately its written for Debian and not Red Hat. Soooo, I went online to find one. I found one specifically for Red Hat and the last line said "after you do that, it might work." ... Well, it didn't work. I'm still with out sound. With all my digging around, I've managed to fix one error that was showing up at boot up, but I managed to create a new one as well...

Haa haa haa ha... Oh I've got to mention this... As I'm writing this update, I'm eating a salad. I stopped a second to take a bite and as soon as I looked at the screen, WinAmp crashed! Just when I was beginning to wonder why I trying to learn a new OS, the answer presents itself! Heh!

Anyway, I'm outta here for the week.. see you guys later.
