12/18/98

Well, its easy to see that Brian Crews is back on the job. The first monster to come my way is in a little over a year is the giant rat! Here he is on Tsugmugo's castle background. The little sprites next to the characters names on the right won't be in the final battle engine (They're done in the wrong palette and won't be resident in memory during battles anyway.) Yes, soon there will be a real battle engine.. someday soon..

Speaking of memory... I thought it interesting to note that while I'm limited to space (640k) and I'll be file swapping during the game to make up for it, most of everything will actually be in memory thanks to the huge size of modern cache systems.. Just thought I'd bring that up.

Back to business. School is out. I've got to get a little web work done. I'd like to have some sorta battle engine atleast started by the end of the year. Got to get moving as I don't have much time before school starts again and its back to the rat race.. (get it, rat race!... yeah, it was cheap, I'll admit it)...

Ahh, by the way, last night I attended Gathering's Christmas party (same night as Ion's... hmm...) It was very cool. I miss my job a lot. I worked with some of the coolest people you could ever hope to work with. Maybe I'll go back this summer if Tempest doesn't fly.

Thanks goes out to everyone who stopped over at Snow Creek's page and signed her guestbook.

-=New TLOT STUFF!=-

Well, I've added some useful stuff to TLOT. When you go into the menu system to use an item or to see status stuff on the characters, you sometimes need to select a character. I had been pretty cheap in just listing the text names of the characters. I've improved this a bit by showing the characters full front and highlighting them when you have their name selected. Additionally, I put a status bar below them showing their HP and MP. This should be pretty useful. I've got it working fairly bug free for right now.

The mailing list picked up a bit and I mentioned something along the lines of, "Who wants to see the battle engine." If I had to guess, I'd say everyone will get to see a demo of the battle engine in less than four months. Hey, its not a promise, its a wild guess. In two months I might announce that I've given up on the project.

Oh, almost forgot to mention. Brian Crews, the artist that did all of the battle sprites, has returned to the US and is helping me once again. Cool eh? He's such a cool guy.

-=Other Stuff=-

I got sorta cought up in e-mail, I've got 2 finals left and I've had a few hours to work on Talibah. Things aren't so grim. Soon I'll be making money and the world will be right again. Then the battle engine will be completed and Talibah will finish up. Then we all will rejoice! And maybe sometime between now and then, I'll start doing updates weekly again...

Before I go, could everyone please go sign SnowCreekBerry's guestbook? It won't take that long. Thanks =)
